Gujiya Recipe | How you can Make Gujiya

Gujiya is a standard Holi Dessert in North India. In western parts of India this special is known as Karanji and also eaten throughout the Diwali festival. So here we are presenting very special Gujiya Recipe for Holi.

Ingredients:-


For the Dough:-.

  • 1/2 Cup Refined Flour.
  • 1/2 Cup Whole Wheat Flour.
  • Salt.
  • 3 teaspoon. Melted Ghee.

For the Filling:-

  • 150 gms. Khoya/Mawa.
  • 1/4 Cup Desiccated Coconut.
  • 1/3 Cup Caster/ Powdered Sugar.
  • 2 tablespoon Chopped Almonds.
  • 2 tablespoon Chopped Cashew-nuts.
  • Chopped Raisins (As required).
  • A Pinch of Cardamom Powder.

Method:-


The Dough:-.

Take refined flour, whole wheat flour, salt and melted ghee in a bowl. Mix these ingredients with water as well as kneed a soft dough. Once the dough is ready cover it with a wet cloth and maintain aside for 20-30 minutes.

The Filling:-

Take the khoya, crumble it and also heat it in a frying pan till it is soft and comes together. Allow the khoya cool down to room temperature. When the khoya has actually cooled entirely add desiccated coconut, caster sugar, almonds, cashew-nuts, raisins and cardamom powder to it and mix whatever well.

Rolling the Gujiyas:-

Split the dough just as in 6-7 portions. Apply melted ghee to the surface where the dough is going to be rolled and also roll a round puri shape neither too thick nor too slim. Put some water on the edges of this rolled puri and also fill it with khoya filling as well as seal the sides make sure there are no air bubbles. Pinch the side of the puri and pull it in with your thumb offering a decorative pattern to the Gujiya.

 

Baking:-

Place the Gujiyas on a baking tray after oiling thoroughly with melted ghee. Brush all the Gujiyas with melted ghee. Bake the Gujiyas in a pre-heated stove at 200 ° C for 15-20 minutes.

Healthy Baked Gujiyas are ready to be devoured. HAPPY HOLI!!!

 Note: You can also deep fry the Gujiyas until they become golden brown and become crispy.
